He looks really overdressed, I wish I could have seen the Macintosh like that for the first time. I remember making my Macintosh at school talk like that I got in trouble the punishment was showing her how I did it.

Oh my GUI!

It sure sounds like the speaking component of text edit has not been significantly improved since 1984. Sure they've added voices, but it still cannot pronounce the city where I was raised.

Tell me about it. I lift mine just as far as the chair, and then wheel it from room to room :)

No wonder schools like them. No snatch-and-grabbing those babies!

Standing ovation for that?

If Steve or Apple tried to do that demo today, they'd be laughed off the stage! Plus, Steve looks pretty smug. I hope he goes bald.

Where's the hot donkey porn demo? pfft.

Here's to the Crazy Ones

Text to Speech

It sounded like the feature that crowd was most excited by was Text-To-Speech. That was propably the most useless feature too. The technology has not advanced in any way since those days. You would think that a Mac would be able to pronounce words properly by now given all the CPU, RAM and Hard Disk improvements.

ok, I'll hold him down, you shave his head, then someone else can apply wax so it's nice 'n' shiny!

Oh, just to make a bunch of y'all feel old, this was done about 4 years before I was born.

It's funny to see everyone standing up with some people jumping up and down and moving around in a frenzy.

"We've got something amazing for you today."

<flips a switch and a light turns on>

<crowd goes wild, people pass out, others scream>

You must be very young if you don't remember than it took years before PCs were able to do most of the things the original Mac could do, and even then, doing them wasn't easy on a PC. WYSIWYG for example still doesn't work half the time on a PC!

It was 1984.. not 2004!

The voice synth hasn't changed much at all...
