For a stupid reason and in a fit of pique, I remotely erased one of my MacBooks via Find My. I've now found it and want to unlock it and rebuild it but I've forgotten the code I set.

Do I have an expensive paperweight?

You won't be able to unlock it yourself, but if you have proof of ownership like a receipt, Apple can unlock it for you.

Thanks. Unfortunately it's an early 2015 machine so the receipt is long gone. Hopefully I'm sufficiently charming to persuade them to unlock it. :)

Luckily, I eventually remembered the passcode.

Note to self: don’t erase a device when angry and/or after too many glasses of wine. ??
