I Recently restored my phone to free up a lot of space and had to add my fingerprints back onto the device...

Did you know that if you have the fingerprint settings page open and you place your designated digit on the TouchID sensor it highlights which finger is already scanned; see the image below as my explanation isn't the best..


Just thought it was a nice tidbit (and quite the subtle solution to an earlier issue of not knowing which scan belongs to which finger).

It's been that way since at least 8.2 (that's when I upgraded from 5 to 6 and finally got Touch ID.) I assumed it was always that way, since I never got to play with it prior to then.

Not only that but you can tap on the word finger 1 and change it to the actual finger name I.e. Right hand thumb

Yep, this is what I do as I added my prints. Makes it easy to ID later. (never needed to but I'm ready)

It's been known for a while, but another thing it does is it reads your print and gets more accurate every time it does. This area in Settings is a good quick place to contribute to the accuracy of your prints.

Haha, yeah it's pretty interesting! I've found the accuracy to be near on perfect. Great bit of hardware.

I can confirm the feature is present on my iPhone 5s running iOS 8.1. Never knew it existed before I saw this thread though

It isn't an obvious thing like you're making it out to be. I didn't know this.

I didn't know this was a thing until I installed 8.3 on my 6. Control Center is widely advertised as an iOS feature, and can be found on any iOS device running 7 or newer. For a lot of people, they don't have devices with touch ID to know this previous, hidden (as in not prominently documented) feature...

Control Center? Yes, that one I've known about since pretty much day 1 on my iPhone 5s/iOS 7

The feature described by the OP is new to me since I don't spend nearly as much time in Settings > Touch ID & Passcode
