Well, Apple’s paying it to the government, so the government is in a position to turn that money into pay raises. I doubt they will.Interesting. I think French retail workers at Apple would benefit quite a bit if Apple actually used that money for that purpose!
Politics is more complex than this. When US government needs to put a pressure on Apple it uses its EU "satellites" to pressure Apple as well. Why does an American company have to listen to some European country?
The EU capital(money) is most likely already moving to the US. The EU's economical "miracle" is not going to work without an access to cheap energy.EU can't innovate because of taxes and regulations. Instead, they're desperately trying to suck money from American companies.
Don't pay them a single cent Apple. Fight them. Drag it out.
US government also needs to retaliate by fining a French company an equal amount.
They’ve essentially painted themselves into a corner as no company based in the EU will ever be want to be tagged a “Gatekeeper”. Promising companies that may have had a credible chance at becoming the NEXT Facebook won’t be getting started from any of the EU regions and the potential to have those billions of dollars flowing to an EU company has been cut off.EU can't innovate because of taxes and regulations. Instead, they're desperately trying to suck money from American companies.
