Hi All!

We currently have the latest rev of the ibook and I'm planning on upgrading to the PB so that I can do some serious digital video editing.

When I used to do this on my old PC I transferred DV via FW (I don't think USB 2 was even out then).

Does it really make a difference when using an external hard drive if transferring with FW400 compared to FW800? Also how is USB2 compared to this in terms of using an external HD (I have a LaCie, 250GB, 7200rpm) for digital video?

Is it the speed of the HD or the speed of the connection (i.e.FW400 vs FW800 vs USB2) that is the impolrtnat factot to prevent frames dropping?

Thanks,

AJ

FW400 is more than enough for the DV format, FW800 is overkill, and USB 2.0 should be avoided (in real life it slower than FW400).

I second that advice.

Thanks for the info!

So do you think I should stick with my ibook (seeing as it's got FW400 and I've maxed out the RAM)?
