The FCP help says to ripple delete a clip in the timeline you select it and delete it. When I do that it doesn't ripple - I get a hole in the time line.

How can I do a ripple delete of a clip in the timeline?

That "hole" is called a "gap clip". The only reason that would happen is if you had the position tool selected (for whatever reason). Tap A and try again.

OR you're not using the ⌫ key but rather the ⌦ key.

Thanks. Chose the "Select" tool. Same thing with either of the delete keys. Edit delete (not replace with gap) does the same thing.

Thanks all. Ripple deletes only work when the clips are in a storyline. Added storyline and ripple now works.
