I had one of those, if not something really simialr, in my hands at macworld. They looook real nice next to a G5

It's certainly large, but in relation to the G5.

Thing is, you need the system to match no? Apple Displays, External Hard drives...I wish Apple still made printers.

Actually, I prefer this drive. Its a little smaller, however its only a Firewire/USB2 Hard drive. The internal drive is from Hitachi and the hardware design allows the elimination of the cooling fan. Sweet. G-Tech also makes RAID setups in a very similar, but somewhat taller, case.

I'm currently on the fence right now. I need a second hard drive before I upgrade to Tiger, and can't decide whether to go internal or get an external Firewire 400/800. I need this as a main backup drive, so I'm leaning towards the external drive. But Firewire, while speedy, is appearing to be Apple's achilles heel. So many updates end up borking the drives...I don't think I can take the chance. The drawback to the internal drive would be increased cooling noise. With 2 drives, I'm sure I'll hear the fans a lot more.

I'm partial to this Rosewill enclosure. I got it shortly after I got my G5 and it looks great next to the tower.

Will any of these enclosures allow me to use an ATA33 tape drive? It is a Seagate Hornet 20.
