iPhone Gmail and Yahoo accounts not functioning

Suddenly both gmail and yahoo accounts are not functioning properly on my iphone in the native mail app. This happened on 12.2 and did not resolve itself when updating to 12.3. I tried deleting the yahoo account and re-adding it, but it does not get added back but ends up in a verifying loop. Based on that I have not yet deleted and re-added the gmail account.
Anybody experiencing something similar?

I would highly recommend using native Gmail & Yahoo mail apps for iOS - better looking, better functionality and seamless synchronisation with their desktop counterparts for contacts, folders, etc.
