Hi all,

I have an archived backup of iOS 12 from before the beta and am thinking about going back to stable release while travelling soon. If I do go back to the stable release, I know I am going to have data from that backup time but all my iCloud Photos and also the iCloud messages will just be re-downloaded to the device? That is my main question is what happens to the cloud-based data when restoring is that going to be untouched? Has anyone done this yet?

Thanks,

You shouldn't lose any iCloud photos. I haven't used iCloud messages so I can't comment there.

If you’ve had iCloud photos and iCloud messages turned on for sometime, those are saved in iCloud separately from your backup and should redownload once you toggle them on in iCloud settings, even if you don’t restore a backup.
