i found out that part of the reason I had trouble with my display is the color calibration on the macbook was setup poorly.
I found that there is a set color calibration called Apple RGB that is supposed to be available, though this macbook didn't have it.
Anyway, found it on the web and here it is for anyone wanting it as well...
