Group FaceTime duplicating participants

hi,

Having a weird issue in which I start a Group FaceTime on 12.1 just released and some participants show in video and as a box with their initials... what’s causing this as it’s really annoying??

They don’t all have iOS 12.1.

They are all on ios12.1 and the people connected are there twice. It seems to fix itself if I remove there email address from the contact information but that kind of defeats point of a contact card

I very much doubt we are the only ones facing this issue. I wonder if it works properly on the new iOS beta 12.1.1

I have same issue, I wonder if this is fixed in 12.1.1, it works fine on mac tho

Same issue here. Haven’t tried the beta though.

12.1.1 has a lot of Group FaceTime changes, so it's not unlikely it'll be fixed there.

My experience of group FaceTime has been massively disappointing so far. Buggy and laggy and also suffering from the same people appearing multiple times in the same chat. They are all on 12.1.1 and on iPhone XS Max

I just found this thread and just wanted to share that I have the same problem, even after the 12.1.2 update...
I love group FaceTime but it's been very very buggy for me.

On top of this duplicating issues (with is very annoying) I have another issue where if I make the call from my iPhone or iPad while my Mac is sleeping, next time I use my Mac it's starts calling me trying to add me to the call, even if it is hours or days later!!
I also have an issue that when I start a call from an iMessage group on my iPhone, it the calls me on my iPad, even if I'm already on the call!
Anyone has found a way to avoid these issues?

I still experience this on latest ios 12 update... does anyone still have this issue? I wonder if this was fixed in ios 13?
