The IIcx is long dead and gone, but I kept the Quantum ProDrive 40S hard drive, all 40MG of it. Is there a cheap, easy way to retrieve an old book manuscript from it? The manuscript is on an old floppy, but I don't have a way to access it either.

you need to find an old mac with a SCSI I port and attach the drive to it. Most of the orginal 68k macs will be able to read it. Failing that, you can always find a pc with a floppy drive and get a program called mac opener to read the floppy disk and email the contents to yourself.
