Just curious if anyone has measured the display brightness of their iMac using a Colorimeter, Spectrophotometer etc.

I've got a few datapoints to share:

  • 2013 21.5" Intel iMac non-Retina. Official - no info. Measured --> 440 nits, 875:1 contrast ratio.
  • 2017 21.5" Intel iMac Retina. Official(Apple) 500 nits, 1200:1. Official (LG) 540 nits, 1200:1. Measured --> 605 nits, 1130:1 contrast ratio.
  • 2021 21.5" M1 iMac Retina. Official (Apple) 500 nits, 1200:1. Measured --> 515 nits, 1130:1 contrast.
Looks like some of those older aluminium iMacs can be as bright as an Apple Studio Display.
