I want to use my Apple Cinema Display 30-inch monitor with a 5,1 MacPro and a 6.1 MacPro. I've tried using a StarTech SV231DD2DUA Dual DVI USB KVM Switch, but the monitor shuts down (the light fades off) rather than taking the signal. I'm trying to swap the cables around to see if that might be part of the problem, but so far, neither Mac will show up on the screen.

SV231DD2DUA only supports single link DVI (1920x1200 60Hz). This will limit the Apple 30 inch Cinema Display to 1280x800. Did you make sure that the selected mode is 1280x800 using SwitchResX?

A friend gave me the StarTech KVM. I initially thought the "dual" was for the type of DVI, but as Joevt mentioned, it was just for the number of computers. The Belkin switch (in white) is available on eBay for under $30. I'll see how that works, or sell the monitor and use the proceeds toward a 4k display.

Thank you both for the info!

I have used the Belkin 2-Port flip DVI-D for years with 30" cinema displays.
I used the white older version..

Is this the one as far as you can tell?
