I just want to get a feel for how many console gamers have an HDTV. You don't have to have your console hooked up. You don't necessarily have to have an HDTV. It can be an HDTV computer display or a projector.

Yes, no, maybe soon (soon being by end of the year)?

We probably will get an HDTV by the end of the year once we move.

No. There's simply no service yet (Unless you count Sky HD. LOL. Sky TV).

HD monitor though - 1680*1050.

I wasn't sure if I was supposed to vote in this poll; I have a high-def TV but no current gen consoles. Right now, the DS is my system of choice.
Not sure either. No current gen console or "real" HDTV. I've got a 2407WFP hooked up to an HD set top box. I checked yes anyway. I can do 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i , and 1080p. HD is HD.

That makes sense... if the device that you use to watch television, when you watch television, is capable of at least 720 vertical lines, I think you can more or less consider that to be HDTV.

I just realized that my minimal analog cable ($55 for internet plus a handful of analog channels) has a couple of HD broadcasts on the tail end... but not sure if I get NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX.... I get at least ABC and one of the others, but I'm not sure which.

Hm, guess I should have been more specific. HD computer displays should count. I guess you don't have to have a console hooked up. I was just wondering how quickly HDTV (or even HD displays) have caught on with gamers especially with the 360 and PS3 touting HD-ness and Nintendo downplaying HD.

What you should also take into account is this is a forum of nerds and co. It was only last September than DVD players overtook VHS! There's a long way to go and it's not helped by the BBC pussyfooting around.

The very reason my folks won't get a HD set is because terrestrial TV looks unsightly crap on LCD/Plasma TVs. CRT or EyeTV for me.

All of the TVs in my house are HD. I'm lucky I live in Australia and we get free to air digital SD/HD. I could never go back to SD analog.

Yep.
Samsung SlimFit™ TX-T3093WH HDTV, bought to replace a 27" Sony SD set that went bad after 7 long years of use.

Excellent tv, can't beat built-in HD tuner for free OTA broadcasts. ;)
We had Dish|HD for awhile, didn't use it much. Majority of the HD channels we didn't watch, and most of the shows we watch in primetime are available for free on FoxHD OTA.

Wanted bigger/more expensive, but didn't want to shell out for a new entertainment center/stand, so...sometime down the road when HD is mandatory, we'll probably get a 40-60" LCD or LCD projection around that time.

A really nice and affordable 32 inch CRT from Samsung. Only goes to 1080i, but 720p is more than enough at that size and with our viewing distance. Wonderful blacks and looks great in SD too!

Yup. Got one that does 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Got my Xbox 360, PS2, Upscaling DVD player hooked up to it. I also get all the local HD Channels courtesy of Comcast for free as part of basic cable. Good Stuff is what it is. Only wish i got Discover and History Channel in HD. Mythbusters HD would be awesome.

I've got an HD set and the only HD content I have for it is the 360. I'm going to get an HDDVD drive eventually, but as far as HD TV goes... well, I have plenty of options to get it, but since I don't have an HD DVR I don't watch it.

Next year, after my one year contract with TiVo is up I might switch to a Dish and get a free HD DVR from them. I might also get another HD set with it, if prices get low enough to warrant a second one. My current HDTV is a 30" 1080i CT model. Decent TV, but just decent, not great or ever really good. I bought it cheap knowing that I would replace it with a larger flat panel when the prices were better and the CRT would make a perfect bedroom set - widescreen for movies, HD for gaming, etc.

Eventually I'll replace my widescreen 480p projector (InFocus 4805, for anyone curious) with an HD model, but not anytime soon. Even at 97" the 854x480 pixels of the 4805 and a decent DVD player look really good. When I can get a good 720p projector AND an HDDVD player for <$800 I'll upgrade. :p Almost there, now, really if you get a good sale on one of the Toshiba HDDVD players and a refurbed PJ.

(sorry for going OT)
When we had Dish|HD which has Discovery HD - I never caught Mythbusters *or* American Chopper on there.

For whatever reason - Discovery HD shows different shows at different times than regular Discovery Channel. Dunno why; that's stupid. IE if Mythbusters was on Discovery at 8pm CST, Discovery HD was probably showing Planet Earth or something like that. *shrug*

I have a 32 inch Sharp HDTV and a xbox360 and my roommate has an SDTV w/ and 360 as-well. When i watch games or try to play on his tv it drives me crazy how much more i have to pan the camera around to see whats going on. On top of that my tv doing 1080i and his doing 480i it looks considerably different with some games on my tv. Both are enjoyable but it nice to see in HD.

I have a ceiling-mounted HD projector. It's incredible. Play my games in 1080 on the 360 at about ten feet wide. It's jaw dropping and takes up zero space as you just pull the screen down when needed. I highly recommend this route. Cheers, T
