So Calif
So getting into 4K for the first time as a result of the M1 Mini I got a few weeks ago; I got my first budget 4K monitor and having an issue...

Historical: For the longest time, I always used the 27" Apple Thunderbolt MC914LL/A for all my Macs (laptop, iMac, and Mini) so I have an expectation on basic color - especially black...

I picked up from Best Buy at a bargain price of $245:

Samsung - UJ59 Series U32J590UQN 32" LED 4K UHD FreeSync

While the colors, pixel brightness and sharpness is awesome during the day or on white/light backgrounds, I noticed an issue at night or black backgrounds.

The Samsung does not show blacks like my 8 year old Apple WQHD Thunderbolt display...

I messed around with the OSD and System Preferences display calibration but I can not get the blacks to come close to the Apple's.

Is there something I am missing or did I just pick the wrong monitor to complement my Apple display ??

BTW I can't afford the LG Ultrafine 5K display so here I ask....
