OK. I am on my second iPhone after having stupidly dropped the first one in a glass of water. I really don't want to have to buy another!

For a while now my microphone has not been working, intermittently. It works through the earphones all the time but not the phone itself. 90% of the time I can hear the other person but they cannot hear me.

Heres what I have done.

1) Plugged the earphones in and out (I have done this A LOT!)
2) Found a guide online and cleaned the inside of the jack with a q-tip. First time I did this a little bit of fluff came out but nothing after.
3) Reset iPhone settings

It still hasn't helped.

The earphones are broken, the speaker in one side is distorted due to the film being broken (i guess)... could the earphones being broken have anything to do with this?

Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to solve this? The iPhone is 1.1.4 jailbroken/unlocked with ziPhone, so sending to apple is a no go unfortunately :(
