Hi, I have the new ATV2 that was bought about the day after it cme out. I have not updated the siftware so it should still be jailbreakable. I follow the instructions on awkwardtv down to the last detail but every time I get "This Apple TV is not eligible for this build." Did I miss my window of opportunity. Is there any way around this?

Thanks in advance!

I thought I heard somewhere that the apple tv auto-updates. Are you sure you're not infact running the latest firmware?

I haven't plugged in my apple tv for about a month so I am sure that the software hasn't been updated. Does apple not sign the old software anymore?

That is correct - Apple stopped signing the old software when checking online through iTunes. There is talk in the net that you still can jailbreak if you have saved SHSH with a program called TinyUmbrella (or something like this) which will bypass the online checking, but as my tech skills totally end here, I can't give any helpful details, sorry.

This is true. However, I bought 2 AppleTV's yesterday and am having the same problem. Even with TinyUmbrella they aren't signing any more SHSH's. We will have to wait until 4.2.1 has been Jailbroken...
