Hey guys...new to the forum but ready to contribute.

I'm working on a potential application that would require the user to request the following.

"Hey Siri...add butter." The command would have Siri write Butter and the current Time/Date of request.

This could be on notepad or textedit. I will build on that from there.

To do this, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap the "+" button to create a new shortcut.
  3. Tap "Add Action" and search for "Dictate Text".
  4. In the "What do you want to say?" field, enter "Add [Item] [Date and Time]". This will be the text that Siri adds to the note, with the item being whatever the user requested (in your example, "butter").
  5. Tap "Add Action" again and search for "Format Date".
  6. Choose the format you want for the date and time, and make sure to include it in the text field.
  7. Tap "Add Action" again and search for "Append to File".
  8. Choose the text file you want to add the note to, and make sure to turn on the "Ask Each Time" toggle.
  9. Name your shortcut and tap "Done".
Now, when the user says "Hey Siri, add butter", Siri will dictate "Add butter [Date and Time]" and then ask which text file to add it to. The user can then confirm and the note will be added with the current date and time.
