Ok, I can't resist asking why Hermès AirTag costs so much?
Ok confession time... I bought two Hermès key rings, one for myself and one for the car key that I share with my partner. Do I need to seek help?
Because Apple knows people will not think twice about spending high amounts of money when they see a certain name on the box. You're paying for the name pure and simpleOk, I can't resist asking why Hermès AirTag costs so much?
I guess I'm very out of touch because I hadn't heard of Hermès until the Apple watch came along.Because Apple knows people will not think twice about spending high amounts of money when they see a certain name on the box. You're paying for the name pure and simple
Join the club. Neither had I. The fact that someone will pay a crazy markup for a name on their item just boggles my mind.I guess I'm very out of touch because I hadn't heard of Hermès until the Apple watch came along.

Because there are a lot of people in love with the brand name. And Hermes is taking a lot of people for a expensive ride.Ok, I can't resist asking why Hermès AirTag costs so much?
In the case of a keychain, I'm going to disagree. 350 dollars is kind of ridiculous. I'm not knocking anyone from spending their own money on this and to each his own but in the case of a keychain. I don't see how there could be enough difference in quality to warrant such an extravagant priceYou‘re paying for the name and the quality/craftmanship. The difference between e.g. Hermès straps and other leather bands for Apple Watch is readily apparent if you own both. If that difference justifies the vastly different price tag is another question entirely.

And also the quality of their craft, which is high. But yes, mainly the branding.Because Apple knows people will not think twice about spending high amounts of money when they see a certain name on the box. You're paying for the name pure and simple
This partnership makes complete sense for Hermes, as it associates them with the world's most valuable brand just as Millennials are entering their prime earning years and Gen Z is entering the workforce. If you have never been into global luxury, then that’s understandable. Most of the high end luxury brands are euro based eg French and Italian. Hermes has been around since 1837.
What is good about this is Apple exposes the brand to people that were previously not into luxury brands
You have to keep in mind that these are fashion items, and luxury fashion items at that. Reason doesn't come into play. Everything in an Hermes store is "overpriced" as a functional item.In the case of a keychain, I'm going to disagree. 350 dollars is kind of ridiculous. I'm not trying to win an argument or anything silly like that but rather give my opinion that you're paying for the name - just my adjusted for inflation .02
It's not ridiculous at all, it's actually a fairly good value. $299-349 for a Hermes tag or key ring is on the lower range if you look on their website, and this includes a limited edition Hermes AirTag. Also, most designer brands sell their keychains for similar prices or more, including Louboutin, Dior, Gucci, D&G, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, among others. In the case of a keychain, I'm going to disagree. 350 dollars is kind of ridiculous.
