i just got a new ibook. i downloaded a firm ware update for an mp3 player i have and it came as a .hex file. the ibook doesn't seem to be able to open it. what can i do?

I gather that your mp3 player is not an iPod. That being the case, it probably does not support MacOS X. However, you get check your manual or the manufacturer's website to see if it supports the Mac.

For Future Reference: When you ask for help, get the forum a clue as to the device (manufacturer, model number, that sort of thing) that is giving you the problems.

thanks, it's an iriver 899T and yes iriver supports OS X. At least up untill i got to this .hex file it has.
