hi, im new here and was wondering if there is yet an app where i can ssh out of the iphone. this capability is all i really need to make the iphone prodictivty usefull.

Yes. jailbreak your phone and install dropbear or openssh. Then install the mobile terminal. It has some issues but works tolerably well and is developing quickly.

I just find it to be a little clunky and unresponsive. Also the terminal emulation isn't entirely in place so display is sometimes skewed.

MobileTerminal was one of the first app's I installed - and I used the Installer.app to do it (that was actually the first app I installed.) It really does work pretty well.
