USB port was acting funky. After rebooting is working. It was OS-level and not app related, which threw me as video worked but not audio-in and I had never seen any complicated failure in a USB port. Rebooting and swapping devices cured it.
I am running an old MPC 5.1 with High Sierra and it had been working fine with Zoom. Just recently the external mic is not providing any input when tested in Zoom. Exact same setup and hardware has been working up until now but sound-in just died. I switched camera/mic with no effect. In Mac OS audio prefs I see the USB mic and selected it as input. Camera works so it's not USB port. Mic does not using two identical cameras that have worked on this setup. I'm hesitant to conclude that both mics are busted but I can't thnk of anything that could possibly be misconfigured. Ideas appreciated.
