First off, congrats on a great forum! I am in the market for either an MB or MBP (the MBP mainly for the higher res screen). What is everyone's opinion on Apple releasing a higher res screen for the MB (like a 1440x900)?
Thanks!

Very unlikely. 1440 is something you'll have to buy an MBP for if you want it in an Apple Intel laptop. This is one of the reasons the 14" Thinkpad is so tempting; you can configure it in 1280x800 or in 1440x900 when ordering online.

Think Pads are so ugly though D:.....

But they certainly do have nice hardware, that's for sure.

When Jobs came back to Apple he brought his Thinkpad with him and said "This is what a laptop should strive to be"

I hope they update the macbook screens somehow. I heard the screens aren't that great on them. Maybe even LED. Then I would totally buy a blackbook.

I love my macbook, but I have to say, the screen is not great. I don't see that changing on macbooks any time soon.

1400 x 900 would be so sweet, im sure I've seen a 13" lappy somewhere with one!..

Indeed. This is why it would be nice to see a fully functional dpi scaling feature in Leopard. Reducing dpi to 89% results in an effective resolution of 1440x900. You can experiment with it in Leopard or in Tiger by typing the following into the Terminal:

defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor .89

Open a new application (or close and re-open a current one), and you'll see the difference. If there weren't so many bugs, I'd use it full time.

You can return to your normal dpi levels by typing in:

defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor 1
