HELLO EVERYONE

i have MBP 2.4 SANTA ROSA 17 " and i want to buy Travelstar 7K200-200gb 7200 rpm 16 mb, but i dont know which version to choose SATA 150 or SATA 300 ???

Travelstar 7K200-200 HTS722020K9SA00 2.5" 200 GB Serial ATA 1.5 Gb/s

or

Travelstar 7K200-200 HTS722020K9A300 2.5" 200 GB Serial ATA II 3.0 Gb/s

can anybody help me in this problem ?

There aren't any notebooks on the market today that can take advantage of the 3.0 g/b throughput. Go with which ever is cheaper.

Drives put out data at about 30-80MB/sec (depending on the drive, older is slower).

The SATA interface can handle ~150MB/sec at the SATA 1.5 speeds, and double that at the 3.0 speeds.

So a single drive on a SATA interface will see NO benefit today from the 3 vs 1.5

Yes, there can be a difference if the data is in the buffer (aka cache) on the drive. But unless you are planning on reading and writing to the same couple of MB all day long, the theoretical speed will make no difference to you.
