I was playing music via iPhone X to two HomePods with Airplay 2. While the music was playing, I took a call on my AirPods.
When a new song would start, there was a slight click sound on my AirPods. After that, the caller on the other end could not hear me anymore ( I could hear them.) This happened consistently over 3 song changes during my call.
It seems as though a new song would switch the audio controls away from the AirPods and back to the HomePod.
