Sorry for a simple (?) question, but can somebody advise me how to setup
a media computer based on the new Mini to be able to record
all HD programming from my cable box?
Everything is protected when saved on my Motorola DVR.
Do I need a separate tuner? Or is there a software solution?
Thanks!

You won't be able to output from the cable box to the new mini with HD. There are no HD inputs on the mini.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. The Elgato EyeTV-HD can do this. Note that you must use component outputs from your cable box, as the EyeTV-HD does not have HDMI inputs.

Thanks! So it seems they use component to go around HDMI protection.
Smart and good enough.
It records H.264, but not sure about the sound...

What software do you guys use for you Mini home theatre?
