How can I kill the update nags for security 2022-005 10.15.7??

Hi,
I'm running catalina on my beloved mid 2012 MBP. Everything is working great but if the 2022-005 security update installs, it bricks the machine making it unusably slow. I've done a fresh install of catalina and working fine again. I've tried everything I can think of to prevent it updating:
turning off auto updates
installing lulu to try to prevent it reaching the update server
trying terminal scripts to ignore updates.
Deleting any update files in the library folder

Nothing stops the popup from appearing regularly. Anyone else having this problem or know of a possible solution?
