My earpod lasted only a few months so I had to buy a new one at Amazon for $15.

It would catch on door knobs etc when I'm walking about. For this I could buy clips like these: https://www.amazon.com/Headphone-He...&keywords=earphone+clip&qid=1627323817&sr=8-7

Also I would forget that it's attached to the laptop and forget to unplug it when moving away from the laptop which would yank hard at the cord. What could I do to prevent situations like this?

I use wired headphones, and put the cable through my shirt if I don't want it dangling around. I doubt there's much you can do about forgetting they're plugged in except being more aware of that and taking them out before getting up. You could get wireless headphones but I don't think that's an ideal solution if you care for things like audio file quality, or use things that don't support bluetooth (like headphone amps, older iPods)
