I'm on an M1 Pro 16" and the keyboard isn't my favourite due to the 'hollow' typing experience. Compared to say an M1 or M2 MBA, those feel more solid and don't have that cheap plastic clickety-clack sound.

Considering an upgrade, just curious what your keyboard experience is like.

It’s the same. You’re noticing the chassis dimensions which create more or less key travel.

If your preference is the keyboard from a thinner chassis such as the MBA then there is no Pro option for you.

I have an M1 Pro MacBook Pro. The keys were a little stiff when new but are somewhat softer now. They have a brief click so there is decent feedback and I'm happy with it. It is opposed to the mushy feel of the 2014 and 2015 MacBook Pros. My favorite keyboards are the 2007, 2008 keyboards as they had very curved surfaces and more travel than the Retina and later models.

I normally use Cherry MX Blues keyboards with my desktop systems and those are my favorite for typing.
