I own a new aluminum iMac and I'm interested in playing the games included in this "Orange Box" pack, specifically, i'm interested in Team Fortress 2.

Has anybody played these games in bootcamp and can tell me how they run? Thanks for your help.

I have a MacBook Pro 2,4ghz santa rosa chipset, 2gb of ram and a nvidia 8600gt. I have also Vista Ultimate installed with Boot Camp and I can say that Team Fortress 2 runs wery well. I have resolution set to 1280x768 with all graphics set to high except AA which I don't use. The average fps is 45-75.

edit: and i also have updated the nvidia drivers to version 163.44 from the boot camp originals.

I did some searches but I couldn't tell if the people posting were running it on bootcamp or on PCs. It appears we have a fair share of PC gamers in this forum...at least it appears to me.

Anyway, thanks for your reply.

I have it in BootCamp on my 2.2Ghz MacBook Pro, 128mb NVidia 8600 and it works EXTREMELY well. I haven't had any slowdown during battles, the graphics are nothing below amazing, and it just runs really well. Oh and the game is pretty much one of the most fun games I've played in a while I totally recommend getting it, as it should definitely work on your iMac, as well.

TF2 rocks on the MBP, the 8600m GT is more than enough video card for the source engine.

I'm PhatBoyG on TF2 also. :)

Cool man thanks. I'm going to pre-order OB to get the demo today. Will look for you all.

There is no speed penalty for using Bootcamp. Therefore there is no slow down at all and will run as they would on a same spec PC. Since we're talking about Source engine games = it will run very fast. My year old 17" iMac runs HL2 in 1680*1050 about 50fps and a constant 30fps with HDR on for the newer Source games.

Did it take forever to download Orange Box from Steam?

I the speed indicated a download speed of 250Kb/s plus on average. Just wondering.

I pre-ordered and pre-loaded the day after the beta deal was announced (about a week before beta started) and at that point I was getting around 800 KB/second (almost a megabyte a second).

But I'm guessing based on the beta traffic on servers, most that wanted in the beta have gotten in since there are only typically 30-40 servers at 24/24, which is what, 700 people playing beta at any one time?

Also, be sure to check the TF2 steam forums since there is a lot of information about configuration, etc.

Took me a couple of hours, the speed went from about 1.5MB/s to 200KB/s at random.
