iOS 14 has some nice new features so I’m thinking of updating from 13 on my OG iPhone SE1 first generation 2016 (I don’t know what the proper name of this phone is anymore). Just want to see what other SE1 owners’ experiences have been so far. Thanks.

It works fine! It' snappy and does what it should.
(my SE battery was almost dead before and it didn't get worse anyway)

In the middle of several books.
It runs fine. The biggest thing I have noticed with iOS 14 is it seems to chew through battery a lot quicker than iOS 13. The betas weren’t a problem but my SE 2020 struggles many times to make it through a full day, whereas before iOS 14, I could go 1 - almost 2 days between charges, since I am a light user. I can easily charge when needed and also havre a Smart Battery case so its not really a problem

iPhone SE 1 gen here. iOS 14.0.1 runs fast, but battery drains so fast!! I also experience some crashes (after an app is open it goes back to home). Not so happy, maybe my iPhone is almost dead (or apple has decided so...) ?‍♂️

iOS14 works fine.
Battery was a problem, but it has been resolved for me with 14.0.1 and it is now back to the same battery performance I had with iOS 13

Thanks for the replies. Looks like a mixed bag regarding battery so far. This is concerning, but my battery life is already pretty awful on 13, so part of me thinks how much worse can it get. Also I barely use my phone these days in quarantine, mostly just iPad mini, so I may just go ahead anyway.

Ah no wonder, I only searched in the iPhone forum.

14 runs great on my 2016 SE. Snappy, smooth and no major hiccups, except for a couple of unexpected resets. Battery has been performing well - same as before.

Bought the SE 1. Gen at launch, have upgraded to iOS14 when it was released.

So far I have not had any issues, resets or battery problems whatsoever.
I still have the original battery and it's health is in the high 87's %.

Mine was working fine until the most recent update, 14.0.1. Now it keeps freezing randomly since the weekend. If I wait it recovers but will freeze again. And again. No battery issues though.

Been fine on se1 14.0 GM

I only use it WiFi airplane mode since it’s not my cellphone just an iPod touch to fiddle with but battery seems ok. Better than some of the betas and not that much if at all worse than I recall on 13.5 before that

No problems . It is very smooth.

Regarding battery life. I have noticed that when a new operating system is introduced, or I buy a new device , I spend some time playing with new features or exploring capabilities. This results in heavy battery use initially which then settles down in normal use.

oh, I forgot - I still have the "health data bug" that states that i have 35 PB of health data on my phone which makes it very difficult to back up to my mac.... no fix in 14.0.1 :/

The health data bug is finally gone in iOS 14.2 - now it is a more manageable 935 MB, a bit easier to back up... :)
