How long do you plan on keeping it ? 1 year until next upgrade? 2 years? ...

I typically don't upgrade yearly, so probably 2 years or more. It really comes down to if I start having issues with the phone, I will usually hawk it, lol.

Not sure yet. It depends what the 15 brings. Bought the 512gb in case I decide to keep it for 2-3 years.

I kept my XS for 4 years which still surprises me. I was going to hold out one more year for USBC but figured the 14 Pro looked really good.

So my guess is probably 2 years (16 Pro), which is hopefully when Pro has USB-C and also gets the periscope camera (only rumored on the Max next year). And I’ll probably stay on that for 3+ years like my XS since it’ll finally have a standardized port.

2 years, unless they come out with the periscope camera and better zoom next year.

Can you elaborate on this?
You take the largest depreciation loss in the first year normally, but not as much the second year. You will lose an average of $200 per year in depreciation as long as you keep the phone at least two years. After 2 years you normally will continually lose $200 more annually in depreciation. Therefore, it makes the most sense to upgrade every two years. You are either going to fork over another $400 or so for a new phone every two years (after selling your old phone) or take $200 a year in depreciation. This is all based on your phone being in good shape and you reselling it yourself instead of taking less by trading it in. 2 years is the sweet spot financially.

So far I’ve had:

iPhone 3G - 1 Year
iPhone 4 - 1 year
iphone 4S - 1 Year
iPhone 5 - 2 Year
iPhone 6 - 1 Year
iPhone 6s Plus - 1 Year
iPhone 7 Plus - 1 year
iPhone X - 2 years
iPhone 11 PM - 1 year
iPhone 12 PM - 2 years

Getting the 14PM on Friday. It makes more sense every 2 years now as the improvements are smaller. I planned on keeping the 11PM longer but the pacific blue colour of the 12 was too nice for me to say no🤣

I’ve had my 14 pro max since launch now and I was planning on keeping it until the 16 comes out. However, it is still running perfectly and I see no real reason for a new phone in only 9 months. So hopefully keeping it until 17

I usually do 2 years but as ive gotten older I realise the value of money more and that I need to hold on for longer.. my last iPhone SE I did 3 years and for this 14 pro max I've set myself a 5 year goal!

its tough to resist temptation

It is hard! But if I make it past October the temptation fades 😂 and honestly I was a lot less tempted by the 15s then I thought I would be
