Anyone? I’ve found a deal that would give me a new XS for £540. Is this a good deal or not?

I can't say if it is better than the 11, but if legit brand new that's not too bad of a price.

I know two people that bought an XS Max used for almost as much.

I would only pay based on detailed market research what the phone is actually worth. I would never just take a suggestion with somebody thinks it’s worth, when you should base it off what’s the overall resale market tells you through sites like eBay, Swappa, even your local community selling groups through like Facebook marketplace for example.

For used iPhones I’d 100% agree with you but in this instance it doesn’t really apply.

The OP said he has found a deal that gets him a new XS for £540, that’s a great price when you consider the XR from the same year is still on the Apple website for £629. It was £300 cheaper than the XS when 1st released.

I paid 632 usd for a certified preowned XS Max 256 4 months ago and thought it was a good deal. Considering I bought her an SE 64 for about 515 usd.

I just got an unlocked XS in gold 256GB for $450. That’s not a normal price though I know. It’s a refurb unit, but for $450 I couldn’t pass it up.

I feel like the price you’re talking about is very fair. I wouldn’t consider the XS better than the 11 though. It feels more premium I feel like, but I do t think I could say it’s a better device overall.

There are lots of pros and cons to each (11 vs Xs):
  • Bigger screen vs. easier one handed operation
  • Ultra wide lens vs. telephoto lens
  • LCD vs. OLED
All of those are personal preference. Personally I would take the 11 for the better battery life and newer chip/camera. But my wife has an Xs, and it is still a fantastic phone.
