This used to just happen automatically. If I added website to home screen with Safari, it would create an “app” that hid all the Safari nonsense when opened. I just did it though and the “app” just opens Safari with all of the BS.

How do I make it work like before?

I think it depends on the website, something to do with it being set up as a web app.

I only use a few shortcuts, a couple that I believe are set up like that and they open in a new window and look like an app, they also appear in the last used apps. Others that are just websites open in safari as a new tab.
