Hello,
I was wondering how one would be able to export photos in HEIF format (HEIC file extension) on iOS/macOS? All I've tried (including dragging out a photo from the Photos.app on macOS High Sierra) results in a .jpeg file. Which is 1. bigger in size and 2. lesser quality due to recompression from HEIF to JPEG.

Thanks

now i see it

Officially HEIF only works with iOS 11 devices and exports are converted to jpegs. Although I haven't tried it yet, try 'sharing' (export) a HEIF photo to the app -Transmit- and see what you get. You'll be able to read the file name & extension of the file using Transmit.

Transmit by Panic, Inc.

If Transmit accepts HEIF files, then you could export from Photos app to Transmit then Transmit to wherever you want. Typical iOS runaround.

Without Transmit, I think I would lose my mind with frustration with iOS.
