Finally I have arrived.....
I am trying to get rid of the white background from the circle logo I put on the map in Illustrator CS2. I put in the circluar logos as my offices' locations in USA map. But, this logo keeps the square edge and I see the white edge at the 4 corners as the actual logo is in circular form. I originally lifted this logo from Photoshop CS2 by selecting it and using move tool (so only circluar portion is moved) to Illustrator.

This is bugging me to no end and I appreciate some advise fixing this.

Produce a JPG from the Illustrator file and post it here so we can see exactly what it is you're talking about.

Use the Pen tool in PS to select the circle logo. Save the clipping paths in the Paths palette and save the file as EPS. Import into AI, and hopefully that should work.

Or make sure your artwork is on a transparent layer in PS and saved as a PSD file prior to import into AI.
