How to hide Notification center icon on High Sierra

It seems that Bartender and also Vanilla aren't able to hide the Notification center icon on High Sierra.

Can someone confirm this?

And if so, is there any chance to hide the icon?

i haven't found a way, and discouraging that bartender can no longer do it. it's 'hardwired' to the menubar, think we're stuck with it (altho if anyone has any ideas........)...
