I recently picked up an Apple Xserve 1,1. It came without any OS but does has two Hard Drives. As far as I know I should be able to install MacOS Snow Leopard on it, but how should I do that? Is there a way to create an Install USB or should I purchase a Snow Leopard Install disc off of something like eBay?

Thanks for your help!

An Xserve (Late 2006) (Xserve1,1) will support up to Lion natively.
Lion is easier to find, and you can download a setup installer, free, from Apple.

I tried to use that installer but without an operating system already on the Xserve it would not let me install the OS to the blank Hard Drive.

I opened the installer on a Snow Leopard MacBook, and connected the Hard Drive directly to the Computer via USB to SATA, when I tried to install Lion to the drive it was greyed out.
