I know you can use QuickTime to record the screen, and I do have Final cut and you can record yourself on that as well. However, is there a way to do both, screen and face with a single app?

there is an app call zoom

start a meeting for just you, share the screen and then record.

Wow, there’s got to be a better way. I’m surprised Photo Booth doesn’t have a floating window option. I guess people just capture both separately and then combine in post.

Thats what I was wondering, I am surprised that final cut doesn't have an option for this.

This is possible using QuickTime alone.

Go to File > New Movie Recording so you can see yourself, then in the View menu, select Float on Top.

Then, go to File again and start a new screen recording. Voila.
