I cannot get my regular screenshot to work right. Previously, I installed Parallels and also their Toolbox as a trial, which also has a screenshot function, but do not want to buy it, and now it has expired. Furthermore, I tried the app Skitch, but was not happy with it, so I Moved it to the Bin. So I have decided to live with the Mac's own screenshot function, for instance Shift-Cmd-5.
But when I press that combo now I get both a handle-frame, a cross hair, and a small on-screen Capture menu on a greyed screen. I believe cross hair and on-screen menu are the original MacOS's.
I can move and resize the handle-frame, but not the cross.
If I press Capture on the menu, the content of the handle-frame is captured to the clipboard and can be pasted, but it will be greyed and contain the image of the crosshair which was on the screen.
NOW I can move the crosshair and drag an area, which makes a different Capture dialog appear. When I press Capture, I get an error "There is no application set to open the URL skitch:///." So the cross hair apparently belongs to Skitch, which I Moved to the Bin.
So it seems that I have not gotten rid of Skitch the right way - is it wrong just to Move apps to the Bin? What can I do to make it go away completely?

I use appcleaner to completely remove apps. I would get that, reinstall the app you can’t shake, then remove it with that instead.
