I've noticed that:
if all recipients are using iMessage, the broadcast will form a group, which is not what you want 99% of the time.
if not all recipients are using iMessage, the broadcast will not form a group, which is good - but the inconsistency sucks.

My questions if how to send mass text in any case without creating a group (without turning off iMessage).

Any input & discussion around this is welcome.

Have you tried to see if the Group Messaging option under Settings > Messages has any effect on any of that?

Do you have MMS enabled? I think the group setting might also be something that the carrier can control.

Same here.. don't have that option here regardless enabling MMS or not.

This broadcasting messages creating a group thing is totally to do iMessage. Not sure why the carries plays a role here..

Yeah, perhaps it is carrier-specific. I'm with Rogers in Canada. I also don't get transcription for voice mail even though I have visual voicemail. So, yeah, thanks Rogers.
