how to smooth scroll?

at the apple store, I scrolled with the provided mouse for the macbook. it was really smooth.

well it's the not the same story with my macbook. the scrolling is horrible. I thought it was my mouse so I switched to a corded mouse (I was using a wireless mouse) but it was still jagged-like scrolling.

is there a fix?
