iPad How to stop update notifications

I am totally happy with my 2016 iPad Pro running on 11.4.1 and don’t want to update to iOS 12.

How do I stop the constant update notifications? I’ve seen a bunch of videos on YouTube but they are older versions of software and don’t apply now.

I don’t think you can. I’ve even deleted the update without installing. It downloaded again and didn’t give me the space back, in effect retaining 2 copies of the update. Not sure if that’s typical.
