When I upload a photo from my iPhone to Facebook, it gets terribly scaled down in terms of resolution. I've tried uploading directly with the Facebook for iPhone app, as well as from iOS' Photos app, and in both cases photos get terribly scaled down (to something like 720 px). I've even tried using Facebook Camera app, with the same results.

So how do I upload high(er) resolution photos from my iPhone to Facebook?

That's a limitation of Facebook.

Simple answer is...you can't. Facebook applies a lot of compression to save on their bandwidth and you can't get around it.

Use Flickr or something similarly specialised.

I haven't actually used iPhoto on the iPhone to transfer to Facebook.
I use it on my iPad to upload pictures to Facebook. And, they are much better quality than any other method I've tried.

Facebook does allow high quality photos for some time now (I think partially to squash any hope G+ might have had). It still compressed the quality somewhat but 1080p seems to work.

To upload high quality photos to Facebook, you will need a proper computer I believe.

Just upload via the website m.facebook.com and they will be stored as 2048 resolution though the quality will be a little degraded. (True with the current version of the website)
