From the Notification Center, I only see iPhone and AirPods battery life. The case is not listed and I see no other place to view this, despite reading online how to do so. What am I missing?

In what places can you view the battery life of the AirPods and the case?

Now I'm getting the prompt on the iPhone home screen when I open the case, which shows both volumes. I definitely was not seeing this on earlier attempts.

You need to have at least one AirPod in the case to see the Case's battery status.

Okay, I see that. It also seems if both AirPods are in the case it would show you the charge for each AirPods. To get that, only one AirPod can be in the case. A little weird.
