hey guys, can anyone tell me how i can view animated gifs in 'photos'? i looked, but can't figure it out.

Do you mean iPhoto?

Generally speaking I don't think animated Gifs are all that sported in iPhoto or preview. Try viewing them in Safari.

I think the OP means the stock Photos app. iPhoto doesn't seem like it would belong in an IOS 6 subforum.

Are you sure they're still GIF's? IIRC, photos synced via iTunes are converted into JPG's.

yah i mean the stock photos app in the ipod touch.

i have received animated gifs before in MMS, but cant seem to replicate lol. only other time ive got animation was in safari.

If you are jailbroken/jailbreak a tweak called Giffy will let you view animated gifs that are downloaded from Safari in the photos app .

ok thanks a lot!

i just installed 'gif viewer'. now how do i use it? i want to be able to stream photos from my Mac like i do with videos using 'VLC Streamer'.

for others: i'm now using 'GIFViewer' from the App Store and it works great!

Best way:

  1. Open the Photos app.
  2. Open the camera roll album.
  3. Tap the gif you would like to view.
  4. Tap the Action button in the lower left corner (it looks like an arrow jumping out of a box).
  5. Select 'Email Photo.'
  6. view that beautiful gif in all it's glory and just hit 'cancel' and then 'delete draft'.
  7. done.
