A MacBook Pro, on the other hand, has great build quality and support and is reliable, but also expensive. You get a great laptop that can be used at home and work alike

Those days have long past.. A quick look at the MacBook Pro forum here will tell a different story.. Tons of KB, screen and build issues on the 2016's and 2017's.. It's really sad to see Apple fall so far, so fast for the prices they still charge..

But you have to take price into consideration. My dell xps 15 9560 with 4K touch, 512 nvme ssd, i7 Kaby lake, 1050 gpu, 16gb ram etc cost me 1500 on a huge discount.
If that discount was a special that Dell was running, do you know if or when they will run it again? I'm interested in the XPS 15 myself.

Yes it was. They run sales pretty often. The outlet store is a great option as well, with the same warranty and option to extend it.

Monitoring slick deals is a great way to catch the sale.

It's a great laptop. Well worth it.
