Two things not to like about the dongle in that link...

I don't disagree with you. Hack5190 states personal success with his G5 & said adaptor so you may want to reach out to him for specifics. Using the req'd software, he did not note any issues. Ben's recommendation of a broadcom (not Atheros) PCIe wifi solution is solid too.

I bought a USB wifi dongle that when you get the Realtek driver app works fine on my G5 Quad. Can't seem to find another one (Maybe you'll have better luck) also the packaging is in Chinese only. Comcast CF-WU820N. Uses Realtek 8191SU chip. Hope this helps!

Fully agree. The Edimax is also my first choice. Very stable connection and fast Wifi (which has unfortunately go through the USB2.1 bottleneck).
And the price is "an offer you can't refuse"
The "ASUS 3G MOBILE Wireless Router (WL-330N3G)" is an alternative with fast Wifi to fast ethernet.
It can also lift up os9 to fast Wifi and lastest security WLAN-encryption.

Yes, that's one (in this particular case the important) feature of the "ASUS 3G MOBILE Wireless Router (WL-330N3G)" too.
It get's power through a USB-cable and power source might be the USB-charger, that comes with the unit or an external USB-battery-pack or any free USB-port (I use the last method with my Clamshell/os9 whenever I don't need the USB-socket for other purposes and when I want to run the Clamshell without any more cables)

The Netgear WNA1000m works great and supports Wireless N. It can be had at a very affordable price, but Netgear does not officially support it under OS X. However, one can download the Realtek driver for the chipset and it works great.
Not only that, but most of these are configured through a web interface using almost any browser, and when configured the device simply does not care what the hardware or the OS is -- as far as it the machine is concerned, it is using wired Ethernet. This makes it great for networking even very old Macs without an actual wired Ethernet connection. And it also can provide 802.11n speeds AND provide WPA encryption.
Unless the very reason for needing a USB dongle is because the systems ethernet port has crapped out.
Have you considered a wifi to Ethernet bridge? It's a wifi client box with an Ethernet port. You configure it with a webgui.
I've marked this thread as "Resolved", DouglasCarroll's suggestion of an Edimax dongle appears will suit my needs best.
The Edimax is also my first choice for my mobile macs - but when it comes to heavy traffic, that traffic of your Quad-G5 has to go through the bottleneck of USB-2. Any Ethernet2Wifi-solution will more than double the speed! Despite of the several Edimax-USB-stick I'm really fond of that Asus Mobile Wireless Router or anything of that kind.
Oh, right. Stupid me - didn't noticed that posting at all. Sorry ... also for your G5's Ethernet-port!
