iBook won´t sleep

My 12" ibook 1.2ghz won´t sleep any more. The screen goes black and after awhile the fans come on full throttle and it´s really hot. THis is when left with the lid open.
I run 10.3.9 on it, any uideas as why this has started to happen?

PS I can put it to sleep by clicking on sleep

Is it set to allow sleeping in the Energy Saver part of System Preferences? Do you have any screen spanning hacks installed? Have you tried resetting the PRAM?

Check to see if you've got something like a printer manager running. when I restart, I have to remember to shut off my Deskjet manager, or else my iBook won't go to sleep on its own.

It´s set to allow sleeping, I´ll try to reset the PRAM. Thanks for the advice guys

Maybe you have something in the background that won't turn off...otherwise try shoving sleeping pills into the CD slot
